Today in the United States, millions of Americans are working two or three jobs to make ends meet, income and wealth inequality is among the highest in the world, and real wages have been stagnant for decades despite massive increases in productivity. Meanwhile, the three wealthiest people in this country own more wealth than the bottom half of the American people, major corporations have continuously been allowed to pay zero in federal income taxes, the wealthy have been allowed to avoid taxes through tax loopholes and stashing their money in tax safe-havens, corporate CEO’s often enjoy paying an effective tax rate that’s less than their workers, and the wealthy in this country have bought out the majority of congress (including McConnell) to ensure that things remain business as usual.
We need to transform our system to one that works for all Americans and not just for wealth and corporate powers. There is only one way we do this and that’s by millions of Americans standing up, voting out corrupt politicians whom perform nothing short of abject service to the donor-class, and replace them with politicians that aren’t corrupted and will fight to pass meaningful legislation that’ll help fix our broken system. Through progressive taxation and legislation we can drastically decrease the income inequality problem in this country and raise funds from the phenomenally wealthy in order to fund programs that’ll benefit all Americans.
What Eric Will Fight For
Pass an annual tax on the extreme wealth of the top 0.1% of U.S. Households (which will only affect roughly 200,000 families whom hold about 20% of the entire wealth in this country).
Establish a progressive estate tax on multi-millionaire and billionaire inheritances (Note: 60% of wealth in this country is inherited).
End special tax breaks on dividends and capital gains for the wealthy.
Establish a Wall Street speculation tax.
Eliminate many tax loopholes that allow corporations and the wealthy to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
Eliminate all tax havens that allow corporations and the wealthy to hide money from taxation.
Increase the top marginal tax rate on income above $10 million.
